A rendezvous procedure, in which a guidewire was placed through the distal CBD and into a biloma by ERCP, and simultaneously snared via a PTC approach allowed for a biliary-duodenal catheter to be placed successfully and achieve continuity of the patient’s biliary tree and the patient was discharged the next day.

Gallstones are common and affect 15–20% of the adult population. Moreover, 10–15% of patients with gallbladder stones develop bile duct stones (CBD). Endoscopic treatment with use of endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (ERCP) has replaced surgical stone removal and has cut mortality for endoscopically treated patients by half.

Der Begriff „Rendezvous“ wird in der Endoskopie vielfältig verwendet. Gemeinsam ist allen Verfahren, dass man sich trifft, z. and ERCP was searched for ERCP procedures cross-matched with cholecystectomies for the same patient carried out for gallstone indications between 2008 and 2014. A total of 1770 rendezvous ERCP procedures were retrieved and included in this study. The ERCP procedures were considered rendezvous intraoperative or rendezvous postoperative, depending on ERC-PTC rendezvous techniques are used as a salvage technique after failed ERC or anticipating a complex intervention that might not be resolved by ERC alone. A main advantage of PTC over ERCP is the opportunity to drain obstructed bile duct segments externally, even if the obstructing stricture is not passed by the draining catheter, as PTC uses a percutaneous antegrade access route.

Rendezvous ERCP is a safe and effective method. Even though intraoperative rendezvous ERCP is the preferred method, postoperative rendezvous ERCP constitutes an acceptable alternative where ERCP resources are lacking or limited. Place, publisher, year, edition, pages Springer, 2019.

A Rendezvous procedure is when PTC is used to access the biliary tree in an anterograde fashion facilitating successful completion of a challenging ERCP. We report 3 patients who had complex bile leaks after segmental liver resection and underwent a combined Rendezvous procedure to establish biliary continuity to treat the leak. When ERCP fails to achieve selective cannulation, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided rendezvous procedure may be useful to access the PD for endotherapy. Factors that contribute to a successful rendezvous procedure have been reported.

A rendezvous procedure refers to the combination of endoscopic, percutaneous and/or surgical approaches to achieve a goal through 2 points of the body that cannot be achieved via one. This method is often used for patients with hepatobiliary dysfunction, when ERCP or PTBD alone are not sufficient for achieving desired outcomes. 1

The term Rendezvous (a French word meaning appointment) was adopted when the surgeon and the endoscopist met one other at the level of the duodenum, the former by the way of a trans-cystic guidewire and the latter with his lateral view endoscope for biliary procedures, as originally ideated by radiologists through percutaneous trans-hepatic access. The one-stage procedure involved in the rendezvous technique of PTBD and ERCP was successful in 23 cases, while the other 13 cases underwent PTBD first and then rendezvous ERCP the next time. AIM: To examine whether rendezvous endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is associated with less pancreatic damage, measured as leakage of proenzymes, than conventional ERCP. METHODS: Patients (n = 122) with symptomatic gallstone disease, intact papilla and no ongoing inflammation, were prospectively enrolled in this case-control designed study.

guided rendezvous (EUS-RV) techniques were first reported in 2004 by Mallery (11). Recently, EUS-RV has been re-ported as an effective salvage technique after failed ERCP. 1Aichi Cancer Center Hospital, Department of Gastroenterology, Japan and 2Aichi Cancer Center Hospital, Department of Endoscopy, Japan 2013-09-28 · CONCLUSION: Rendezvous ERCP reduces pancreatic enzyme leakage compared with conventional ERCP cannulation technique. Thus, laparo-endoscopic technique can be recommended with the ambition to minimise the risk for post ERCP pancreatitis.
